On May 30, 2021, the Viterbo community was saddened by the unexpected loss of Alex Rathman, 21, who was set to walk beside his classmates at the 2022 Spring Commencement Ceremony. A memorial service for Alex was held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, Wis. In remembrance of the kindness, thoughtfulness, positivity, music, and abundant laughs he shared, a tree has been planted in memory of him on our Viterbo campus. Those wishing to pay their respects, share memories, or simply wish Rathman well can visit his memorial just to the right of the Mathy Center entrance.
